Wurl'd Peace - Electric Piano for Ableton Live
The unmistakeable tone of the Wurlitzer is among the truly classic sounds in the pantheon of electric pianos. Their “electronic piano,” as the Wurlitzer company called it, enjoyed a very popular run up until the early 1980s when they stopped making it, and it was played by bands like Pink Floyd (“Money”, “Breathe”, “Time” and “Have A Cigar”), Steely Dan (“Do It Again”), Ray Charles (“What’d I Say”), and The Carpenters (“Top of the World”, “Superstar”).
Now that it’s been out of production for three decades, the voice of the Wurly is in high demand for seekers of “that” sound. Well, you can stop the search, because this instrument is for you! Wurl’d Peace is our Ableton Sampler instrument, created from samples graciously provided by Greg Sullivan, from his own Wurlitzer EP203W.
Not every key was sampled, so it’s a very lightweight installation—2MB to download and 8MB unpacked—but with up to four velocity layers per key, it keeps a lot of playing dynamics and realism. In total, there are 35 samples at 44kHz/16bit.
Make sure to watch the demo video, to see some tips on taking advantage of the macro-mapped effects!
Compatible with Ableton Live version 9.7.2 and up
